CMA CGM Names 15,000-TEU Methanol-Powered Container Ship

CMA CGM has named CMA CGM ROI ARTHUR, a new 15,000-TEU methanol-powered container ship set to join the French carrier’s REX2 service as part of its next-generation fleet aimed at advancing the decarbonisation of maritime transport. The vessel marks another step in the company’s strategy to expand the use of alternative fuels, with methanol expected to help cut atmospheric emissions and support the shipping industry’s transition to cleaner energy.

While highlighting the ship’s environmental credentials, CMA CGM did not disclose further details of its propulsion system, the shipyard responsible for its construction, its delivery date or its initial deployment schedule.
